Marine Released From Mexican Jail....No Thanks To The U.S. Government

Ex-Marine Jon Hammar spent four months in a Mexican jail for what was basically an administrative problem. The happy side of the story is that Cpl Hammar has been released in time for a Christmas reunion with his family. Read More from Newsmax.com


The sad part is that that the two U.S. Government officials who should have been all over this from the start sat idly by - President Barack Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. The job of the government is to protect American citizens. The question to be asked and needs to be answered is "Why did President Obama and Secretary Clinton not get involved and pressure the Mexican government for Hammar's release?" This is a gross neglect of office. As we all know, Mr. Obama loves making daily appearances before the TV cameras, but not once has he made mention of Jon Hammar's plight and what he was doing about it. Apparently taxing the rich is more important to this president.

The so-called mainstream media, aka. NBC, CBS, ABC, MSNBC and various print media have given limited lip service to the story. They, like the government, should have been all over it. Why did they ignore it? The media is no longer in the in the business of reporting the news. They have become mouth pieces touting the liberal ideology. As such, to push the story would make their liberal friends, (the president and secretary of state) look bad, and they simply are not going to do that. Jay Carney, White House press secretary said just days ago that he knew nothing about the case! Amazing!  To be fair there is some indication that the U.S. consulate  in Matamoros, Mexico, where Jon Hammar was being held, was in contact with Hammar and his family from the beginning.

The Fox News Channel, on the other hand, took the bull by the horns on this case. Bill O'Reilly, host of the O'Reilly Factor on Fox, led the charge and was instrumental in getting Jon Hammar released.  Click for Video:  Fox News Instrumental in Marine's Release

Unfortunate that a news organization has to do the job of the administration. Thank God, though, Fox was there...and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to Jon Hammar and his family....I'm sure it will be.
