Report On Benghazi - The Buck Stops...........Where?? The Cover-up Continues

UPDATE: Was Hillary Clinton Warned of Security Problems Before The Attack?

A top State Department official acknowledged Thursday that cables warning of serious security concerns at the U.S. compound in Benghazi went to department headquarters – and possibly to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s office – in the months leading up to the deadly Sept. 11 attack.  Read More From Fox News

The mandatory State Department internal inquiry into the deadly Sept. 11 terror attack on a U.S. diplomatic post in Benghazi, Libya, slams bureaucrats for "grossly inadequate" security but says that poor leadership could not be punished under department regulations.

While the report lists State Department miscues, it doesn't point the finger at any one individual or group. Even though the report says there was inadequate security at the mission and leadership and management deficiencies and negligence at top levels” of the State Department, there is apparently to be no punishment, despite the loss of life at the consulate in Libya.

Charlene Lamb
Three State Department officials have resigned as a result of the report - Assistant Secretary of State for Diplomatic Security Eric Boswell, Deputy Assistant Secretary Charlene Lamb and an unidentified official from the agency's Middle East bureau. Question: Were these resignations forced? Are they being thrown out there as scapegoats?

The State Department officials had turned down repeated requests from diplomats on the ground for more security, both at the embassy in Tripoli and in Benghazi. This is nothing new. Everyone knew this from the beginning, security was virtually non-existent. Ms. Lamb had testified before Congress that she, in fact, was responsible for denying the request.

A lot of the responsibility lies at the doorstep of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. After all, she stated that on October
Secretary Clinton
16th that she takes "full responsibility for security" at the Libyan consulate and other U.S. Embassies around the world. Having said that, and after saying she would testify before congress on the incident in  Benghazi, she seems to be backtracking. First the flu and now a fall resulting in a concussion has sidelined her. Mrs. Clinton has announced she will be stepping down from her post effective in January, and as a private citizen and unless subpoenaed by Congress, she is not compelled to testify. Congress may still try to get her to testify before she leaves office.

One wonders if Benghazi had not happened, would she be quitting. Is she running for political cover?  It's believed she has future political ambitions, the presidency in 2016, and while Benghazi will still hang over her head, testifying may be more damaging to her run for the White House.

The report by the State Department investigating the State Department really said nothing knew. Congressional investigating committees will be asking tough questions. It appears the cover-up, orchestrated by the White House, continues. If the Administration has its way, we may never know what really happened and who is responsible for the the gross ineptitude in Benghazi, Libya that resulted in the deaths of four Americans.
