Jack Lew For Treasury Secretary? Not So Fast.

Sen. Jeff Sessions |
The president has nominated his chief of staff, Jack Lew to be the next Secretary of the Treasury, replacing Timothy Geithner. As expected Republicans are holding up the stop sign. Jack Lew |
While is name and face are not immediately recognizable, Lew is no stranger to Washington and the political world. He previously served as Director of the Office of Management and Budget in the Clinton and Obama Administrations prior to being named Obama's Chief of Staff. Lew began his career as a legislative assistant to former Representative Joe Moakley (D) Mass. and later as policy adviser to former Speaker of the House Tip O'Neill. Lew has been described as being highly partisan and political.
Should Lew become the new Treasury secretary, and with a democratic majority in the Senate there is no reason to think he won't, he will probably have to redefine his signature which will appear on all U.S. currency. If he doesn't, this is what we're in for!
Now, the almighty dollar may have lost some in value over the long haul, but we, as American's, still have some pride in "our money." Granted, more and more of it keeps winding up in government coffers, but it's still "our money." I don't think we want it to resemble something out of a Monopoly game. Memo to Mr. Lew: Clean it up, sir!
